Message: The difference is that for every 3.55 times your driveshaft turns, your axle turns once. In the 3.92 the driveshaft turns 3.92 times and the axle turns once. This creates more power off the line and towing/off road with the 3.92 because it is lower gearing, but the 3.55 offers better highway mileage. The difference if you dont do anything but drive to work is, the 3.55 is better for ya. If you plan on hauling, off-roading, or flooring it 3.92 is your bet.

Message: 3.55's
Pro's
better gas mileage
They say it's not as jerky
Con's
Less off the line power
less towing
putting larger tires on them (33") will kill performance
opposite w/ 3.92's
but will still hurt performance with bigger tires but not as much as the 3.55's

Message: Jon
I used to have 3.55s LSD in my 5.9L QC auto. I recently changed to 4.10s after much deliberation and discussion with guys on this site.
It has been one of the best modifications (maybe the best modification) I have made to date.
I've read where alot of guys have "traction problems" and they are running the 3.92 gears. This was not a problem with me. I have the Eagle LS 16s on the factory rims. My 3.55s did not provide the "off the line" or low end performance I wanted.
The selection of gear ratios depends on the weight (style) of your Dak, engine size, modifications and your intended use.
If you already "smoke your tires" or have great performance off the line, changing to a higher ratio might not make sense. Or,if you want the best MPG the 3.55 gears are probably best.
In my case, I wanted to increase performance and wasn't concerned as much about the MPG. I have read several posts that suggest that the MPG does not change substantially when going to a higher ratio gear set because the engine does not have to work as hard under acceleration. (I don't know the effect on my MPG yet as my driving habits have not stabilized since the gear change.)
The gear change made a giant difference in my Daks performance. I am glad I went with the 4.10s. Absolutly no regrets.
I got Motive Gears and spent $462 for the total install including parts, labor, tax etc.
