Subject: new Magnaflow Exhaust!!! IP: Logged
Message: I Just installed my exhaust system with a Magnaflow muffler on my 4.7 V8. Abosolutely amazing. 2.5" tubing all round with 3" Magnaflow 22"ish long tips. Single entrance dual outlet Muffler.
Anyone unsure of how there truck would sound with a dual exhaust setup need not worry if you put on this setup.
Doesn't have the rattle of a Classic muscle car(though I love that sound too), this setup has a lower tighter purr. Absolutely amazing sound.
Doesn't sound like it is resonating or anything, sounds like it is coming from the deep dark heart of this smooth motor, Nice.
As to the power issue. Torque I can say possibly has moved to a higher RPM, But at 3200 My eyes got a little bigger. This happened at the second stoplight from the shop were I was forced to murge in a hurry due to a parked car with no less than a New model Mustang GT next to me who had noticed my new-found exhaust note. He got to admire the work from the proper angle, the back.
I would recommend this setup to anyone wanting to put a permasmile on their face while driving.
Volume is excellent. Their when you want it in a big way, not in a big way when off the go pedal.

Message: Want a cheap and loud and rumbly inside and out? Get a 2 chamber Flowmaster and dump it right after the muffler. ROCKS! Will shake everything around you,,and inside the cab,,everything will start buzzing,,,car alarms will go off. The cops all know you.........it's great.

Message: I had a single-in/single-out Magnaflow put on about two months ago. Sounds great! Nice deep mellow sound that sounds even better on the freeway. This muffler is pretty much a straigh-through muffler. Love it so far.

Message: I am in Canada and went to a custom exhaust and Brake place in Oshawa ON, setup was $350, I was to supply tips.
Muffler itself was like $75 didn't have the tools to put it in myself.
I am only familiar with Magnaflow, hear two sides to Flowmaster customer satisfaction.
I now find I am getting less miledge from a tank of gas for two reasons. I don't want to shut off the engine (It sounds so good). I can't get off the go pedal(accept to shift) as I can't get enough of that sweet supple roar.
Any V8 Dakota with stock exhaust needs an aftermarket setup, you will thank yourself again and again later.
I'm going to go start it again.

Message: I put on 3" dual exhaust flowmaster for $350 all together and couldn't love the sound more. It sounds like a big bad truck when I rev it and when I stomp it It sounds like one of those bad ass cop cars in pursuit. The only problem I had to lose the spare tire for the dual, cause of the tank so close and no heat sheild. You need to go to a good place though, the midas shop welded like a third grader and i made em cut it off and drove away with straight pipe till i went somewhere where they did it right; makes all the difference.smooth bendand good welds= good acoustics.

Message: Chris
Do you meen the muffler, because as I stated above it is only Magnaflow Muffler and tips, the piping is custom.
I don't know if Magnaflow makes a complete dual system.

Message: Just got my Magnaflow on my 4.7 QuadCab. It's a single in dual out 2.5". The shop was great (small local shop where I grew up). Did all aluminized (I've had both stainless and aluminized on previous trucks and neither rusted out after 7+ years, so I went the more cost effective route). Put an extension between the cat and muffler. Re-used one stock tail pipe and put a new one beside it, both coming out side-by-side at the stock location behind the passenger side rear wheel. Sounds MAGnificent :o) I think the muffler part number was 12158 (I'll check later to make sure). Got the custom exhaust and a state inspection for a grand total of $133 (USD) and change. Couldn't be happier. I'll post some pics of what it all looks like later.

Message: Part #12158 on muffler.
Did not have to loose the spare.
A little tight on the driver side but no problem.
The tips are pretty awsome to,(Magnaflow engraved on the exposed upper lip) but expensive.
Good Luck

Message: I just had a new exhuast installed on my 98 4x4 5.2L auto Dak. It's so purty!! lol i love the sound but it could be louder and more agressive. i think the muffler is a MSL but i'm not sure. the only thing i don't like about it is when it's in park the damn thing idles so annoyingly it's really deep and resonating it's like driving on a gravle road with the windows up and stereo down. i have noticed an increase in the gas mileage and the horsies it'll turn'em over yes sir!

Message: I am using magnaflow on the stock pipe setup. It is awesome and it has torque. magnaflow is the way to go on this motor IMO, 4.7. replace the snorkle with the Fennco plumbing fixture and the sound is truly muscle car, along with great torque and throttle response.

Message: If your in the LA Area with a 04 Dakota let me know, Magnaflow is looking for more 04 Daks to install cat-backs, the fit is different than the 03 apparently so they need to test the various 04's. email me if you want the info, could be a free exaust.

Message: Magnaflow does not make a dual system for the 4.7. I had the single side exit cat back installed and it does sound sweet. I also have a kenne bell blower and was a little dissapointed when i took it back to the dyno. Absolutely no noticable power gains. Get the exhaust for the sound but don't expect any power increases.
