Nick,
Flowmaster has an original and a Delta 40
series. The orginal is louder and has more in cab noise than the Delta-Flow.Here are the part #'s
for a single 3"inlet 2.5" dual outlet, for the
Original it is 430402, for the Delta-Flow it is
9430402.
It seems to me that tips run about the same everywhere that I looked. I bought the Stainless
Steel Gibson Sport tips, for $96.00 from Full Throttle Performance here in Indy.

now is the stock exhaust pipe on our trucks going to fit the 3" inlet of the fm muffler?

No. But your exhaust guy can put in a
transition piece.

The 3" inlet WILL match up in the front of a Flowmaster. You just mount the pipe deeper into the swedge, a design feature they built in to accomodate different pipe diameters.

If you don't get a delta you'll be deff in a year. or you will get really annoyed with it

I got 40 series. delta flow 4 chamber... remember more chambers less loud.... easier to your ears, and the people living next to you but yet still a sweet sound and tons of performance.

paul, how do you distinguish between a 2 chamber / 4 chamber? Is the muffler that bill has a 2 chamber or 4 chamber?

Nick,
My muffler is the Original Series. It is much
louder in-cab than the Delta. DAKX01 is right,
if you don't like it loud go with the Delta.
You might want to go to www.flowmastermufflers.com for more info.

I just installed the 40 series original on my '02 R/T and I have all 3 cats removed and gibson headers and the truck sounds beautiful. It sounds almost the same as my dads '67 camaro SS. Its got a real burble to it and gets lots of looks wherever i drive. too bad i cant sneak in late at night anymore though without waking up my parents haha.

JUst got a Flowmaster delta flow 40 series put on 4.7L ,2.5" singal in and 2.5" singal out. Sounds great. deep at idle and loud as heel when you step on it. Don't like the loss of low end torque or the Transition pipe behide the muffler. Mieneke SUCKS.

mine is also 2.5 in/out but i took the tailpipe off completely. its nicely loud but this also allows lots of exhaust flow.
