Subject: Dual Exhaust IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a '99 RT recently and noticed that it has only one exhaust pipe. I was wondering if that is the way they come, and if so, is it possible to put a dual exhaust on it.

Message: Vehicles comes stock with single exaust, purely because its cheaper to manufacture. As for your dual exaust, are you looking for the real thing, or just the apperance of dual exaust.
For appearance it can be done quite easily with some pipes (a couple of 90 deg bends) and a mig welder. If you want true exaust you'll want to start by getting headers, then and H-pip off that, leading to dual flow masters (or another high end mufler).
Depending were you live you might also have to worry about catylitic converters (you'll need to do something anyway because the ECU gets o2 info before and after the cat converter).

Message: Any good muffler shop can install a performance muffler with a single entrance/dual exit and 2 1/2" tailpipes. Flowmaster makes different ones from loud to quiet, 40,50 and 70 series. One easy solution is to use your stock pipe and install a left side version. Clearance is tightest around the spare tire on the left side. My installer welded a "L" shaped bracket to the inside left frame rail to slightly push the spare to the right. Get a matching stainless tip to finish it off.

Message: I am looking for the real thing. Could anyone guess as to how much that would cost? I live in Texas and am new to customizing so any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
