Subject: Cleaning the Injectors??? IP: Logged
Message: 94 cc 5.2L 4x4 with about 130k on it now. I have owned it for a couple of years and about 12k miles. Consistantly noticing power loss, oil loss, and mostly mpg loss... How hard is it to pull all the injectors and clean them, and if I do this what do I use and how much might it help bring the engine back?
Thnx

Message: If you have them out, just replace them. In college we used a sonic cleaner. it was a decent size machine that you put the injectors in and they sit in this crate and the machine vibrates slightly at a very high speed, but it's not practical.

Message: Take them off the engine, send them to a reputable injector shop, and have them professionaly clean them (which includes taking them apart for inspection and. in some cases, flow matching them).

Message: Take it to your local Dodge dealership and let them do a on car fuel injection cleaning, they hook the canister of cleaner to your fuel rail and flush those injectors clean, have them run two cans, one after the other.

Message: No need for two cans...one is more than plenty. (I run the stuff myself and performan those services as well.)
If you're also experiencing an oil loss, it's either normal wear on the engine (bad rings) and/or a leaking plenum gasket (belly-pan gasket). You can actually save yourself some time and money and invest in replacement injectors.
