I Have a 1993 dodge dakota V6 Magnum w/ an automatic tranny, V6, and i was wondering if i could get some advice from anyone....My friend's friend offered me a 2001 Corvette LS1 from his wrecked vette for $750...its an incredible deal but i dont know if i will run into problems when it comes time to finding a mounting kit etc.....Thanks

you're probably better off buying a wrecked
chevy s-10 and putting it in there. they have V8
conversion kits all over for those trucks.

"better off buying a wrecked s10" hmm, ok so he should put a good vette engine into a s10 thats crumbled? no, u should have said to buy a early 90 s10s, those with a v8 and a clean outside look alot better then this gens s10.

I think what D was getting at is that the swap into a S-10 would be somewhat easier than putting a Chevrolet engine into a Dodge chassis...especially a computer controlled engine.
So before you all go off the deep end and think that he's crazy, he's just trying to offer a more suitable solution to your problem.
In fact I would look for a 94 up S-10 to put the engine in. Those trucks are good looking and the LS1 would be a nice touch.

what I meant is you will spend less in the long
run trying to mate it to an S-10 than a Dakota.
Its a nice motor, and those S-10's with a v8
swap make great sleepers.

Ben, you are a moron, and never post anything useful. I'm sure D said to get a wrecked S-10 because it woudl be cheaper than buying a good one, and parts for a pre-94 S-10 are dirt cheap from anywhere. Personally, I wouldn't even try to put a Chevy engine into a Dakota.

To everyone that supported "D.".... An S-10 may be more feasible to put an LS1 into, but a wrecked S-10??? I thought we were talking about an LS1? Buy something in decent shape for crying out loud!!!! The guy has a '93 Dakota that he could toss it into with a lil more work, and you suggest he go and buy a WRECKED car to throw a beast of an engine like that into? I don't think he is looking for a derby car? That is dumb.

It shouldn't be all that hard, come on, they put a Viper V-10 into this truck! The biggest thing to remember is that you will need to get a GM tranny as well. 350/400/700r4 any of those might fit, or just find a wrecked auto vette (6spd and where the shifter is, might not work in the cab of yours). Then consider the tranny shaft output vs. the old and the driveshaft length. You might need a custom made driveshaft, with a GM fitting at one end and Chrysler at the other, besides a custom length. Just some stuff to consider.
