Message: my oil pressure gauge (like every other time i use my truck) only goes to the 1st notch then when i apply the gas then it goes up to normal pressure(like alittle below 40 i think) but as soon as i take my foot off the gas it drops back down to that 1st notch or alittle below. i know variations are normal but i didnt think this much of a variation is normal.

Message: I have the same problem, I order a High Volume oil pump a few days ago from KRC. I hope that helps the oil pressure and the noisy clattering.

Message: You can replace the pump with a high volume one but that kind of fluctuation is usually a sign that something else is wrong. You may have excessive clearence on one or more of the bearings on the crank mains, rod mains or camshaft. I'd tackle that before replacing the oil pump. Doesn't mean the pump is perfect either.

Message: When was the last time you had an engine flush? I know a lot crud can mess with the pump as well as the bearings. Does it make any odd noises while this happens? Perhaps a ticking noise or puttering? If you take it to a mechanic get them to check it out and also check your sending unit. They can do weird things when they're not working right.

Message: It's like the lifter are not getting enough oil, the sound comes from the vally area. Oil pressure is good when cold, then drops to the middle when crusing and down to the white line when idling. This sounds have been there before I replaced the cam, heads, lifters, pushrods, timing chain, oil, flush, and the only thing left would be the oil pump now. The sound doesn't come from the bottom, so I don't thing it's a lower engine problem. I've heard that it's just what magnums do, they are loud and crude. I also replaced the injectors just incase it somehow the ticked echoed into the intake manifold.

Message: The sending units are problematic. Change it first. On a 5.2, its located just to the pass side of the distributor behind the manifold.
How many miles you got on this engine? Was it maintained regularly?
