Subject: Borla Turbo? IP: Logged
Message: Hey I am working on a tight budget. The local exhaust shop will install a borla turbo in place of the factory muffler and re use the same tail pipe for $135. I was wondering if anyone has this and what is the sound inside the cab, I have a nine month old daughter and dont want something to loud in the cab. Any thoughs? Thanks

Message: Borlas are still a little loud. If you want quiet with performance swap in a magnaflow or gibson. I have a magnaflow #14256 S.S. 2.5" in/out straight thru muffler. Got it from truckperformance.com for $100. Had it welded in for $25.

Message: Another option is a Flowmaster 70 series. They are about as noisy (or non-noisy) as the stock muffler, but you should see some small mpg gains and hear a liiiiiiiitle bit of rumble.

Message: gps, go to www.flowmastermufflers.com; then click on the application guide and put in the vehicle info, and finally click on the Adobe PDF icon in the right side of the vehicle list. It should bring up a chart of parts and their numbers.

Message: Just get a glasspack from flowtech. For $25 bucks you can get a 2.5 inch in-out that you can bolt on for less than $35 with the clamps.
Any chambered muffler like borla, magnaflow flowmaster, flowtech, will give some reverb in the cab at certain rpm ranges.
But an insulated muffler will prevent most of that, although they might not flow quite as well as the higher priced chambered mufflers.
Glasspacks are straight through design and flow very well. As Ive mentioned before here, you can install them backwards to up the sound a bit.
Just clamp them and you can try it both ways.

Message: Magnaflow is not chambered its straight-thru. The part number I gave is an exact swap.
