Subject: 4.7L Firing order? Flowmaster Catback?
IP: Logged

Message:
Guys I went ahead and ordered the Flowmaster catback part number FLO-17278 for my 4.7 5-speed RC 2x4 Dodge Motorsports Dak, and I started thinking what is the firing order on these (4.7's) as compared to Fords 4.6 (sick) motor? Im afraid my truck is gonna sound like a 'Stang and thats not really what I'm after! Any info would be appreciated Id also like to hear feed back on the catback and if you like it or not.

Fords firing order is the same but they number the cylinders differently. It won't sound like a stang because the exhaust is much different.

when your done youre gonna wish it sounded. like a mustang. 4.7 s are verry raspy under full throttle, believe me ive got a 2001 4.7 with true duals and flowmasters,i ran it first with just the pre cats and it sounder like a hick with glasspacks! put some cats on it sounds alitlle better, but its lots quieter.what ever you do dont get rid of the cats it will sound like crap.....

I run a single very throaty low growl to it. Not raspy in the least. I am just running precats no main cat.

I run that exact cat back system from Flowmaster. The truck has a pretty nice growl to it. It's not that loud in the interior either. It does not sound anything like a Mustang.

ya... i dunno what your talking about with the sound of stangs.... my 88 5 liter with bkk full length and magnaflow x pipe w/turn downs has one of the best tones iv ever heard... but dont hate on me, cuz i got a stang, lol
just bought a 2001 4x4 4.7 sport, and if it sounded even close to as good as my stang with exhaust on it id be more than happy. and if u wanna talk about poor sounding "hick" exhaust talk about a 92 gmc 1500 350ci with duals. i live in Alberta, Canada around alot of hicks and thats most likely the hickest sound around

Rory fontana you need to get rid of your cats and install an X or H pipe. That will equilize the exhaust tones and make it sound better.

You need to check the time stamp on threads-Rory was feb 2002 and justgotadakota was may of 08. Really do not think they are still out there.
