Subject: Lumpy Idle on 2003 4.7L IP: Logged
Message: I've read many posts about the 4.7L idle being erratic or stumbling but I can't say mine is either. The engine seems to run fine, the tach needle is steady, but it truck seems to shake a little at idle. Almost like something isn't balanced but theirs no pattern and it's inconsistant. Feels like your shaking in your seat. I suppose the motor mounts are hard and the 4x4 suspension doesn't help, but it seems rougher than most 70s muscle cars I've been it.

Message: Have yu lookd at how low the truck idles????? The rough idle is because at 500 RPM idle the power pulses are to far apart to nuetralise each other out. Once you pass 650 RPM's this engines idles like a kitten!! If they would just raise it to 650 most of the roughness would be taken car of. My truck idles at 500 RPM's sometimes 550 in the winter!!
