Subject: 99 Dakota Sputter IP: Logged
Message: I own a 99 Dakota with the 318ci. 41,000 miles and bone stock. Every now and then the engine sputters really bad then clears up. Recently it started sputtering more often and now the Check Engine light is staying on. Is there a way I can check my own engine codes? Has anyone got any ideas as to my symptoms? Also my fuel mileage sucks, I am using almost 1/2 tank more than my buddies Chevy 350 to go the same distance. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: my r/t did that before during the summer time when it was hot out. i fried the pcm. pretty smart of DC to put the pcm under the hood, huh. between the header heat and just being hot outside did it. i went through two of them before i decided to wrap the headers and put a piece of the hood insulation in between the header and the pcm. i also added a cooling fan to the back side of the pcm to help out.
