Subject: backfire in tb IP: Logged
Message: i have a 2001 r/t ,and when i get on the gas real fast sometimes it pops in my tb , what is this?

Message: Back in the day that used to happen when your timing was advanced too much. Raw fuel left in the intake would ignite, but im not familiar with the 01 5.9's.
If that is the problem, its probably hard to start when hot too right?

Message: Have you changed plug wires? Double check to make sure that are in the correct order on the distributor cap.

Message: With a carberated engine if it backfires through the intake or carb it is running lean and if it backfires through the exhaust it is running rich. MY guess is you have a M1 intake on it. A friend of mine has a modified 2000 RT with a M1. He has experienced it backfiring through the intake several times esp. after he has run it hard. He used to be a Chrysler Tech and he has remarked that he thinks that the engine is running lean. Something to think about.
