Subject: Ceramic brake pads rotor warpage IP: Logged
Message: I have read a ton on this board about rotor warpage, my 99 5.2 5 speed dak doesnt have any front rotor warpage that I can feel, but at 60,000 miles I am planning a front brake job soon. I was thinking of using these pads but I wonder if they are worth the extra money. They are suppossed to last alot longer and create less heat, that would help the rotor

Message: ceramic pads arent as dusty as other cheap-o pads...Your rims would stay clean longer...I'm not sure about wear and tear tho...

Message: On my 01 4.7 4x4 club cab, rotors warped at 12k. Dealer turned them. Warped again less than 12k. Put new Raybestos rotors and NAPA ceramic pads on about 2k ago. Very happy with less dust and solid braking power. We'll have to see if these rotors are any better. Should be according to what everyone else has posted here. Try Napa for pads.

Message: Let's see. The pads were about $50 and the rotors were somewhere around $140. Don't have the receipts here in front of me but that's really close. There were cheaper rotors but I went with the best I could find other than slotted/cross drilled. Everyone says there should be no further problems with warpage. Time will tell. If you need part numbers, let me know. I can easily look at the boxes and post sometime tomorrow.

Message: I put cross drilled and slotted rotors as well as ceramic pads on my '00 QC 4x4. I loved this setup. I had about 16,000 miles on this setup before selling the truck. No problems whatsoever. No dust, better stopping, no noise, pads and rotors looked new after 16,000 miles. I used Raybestos QS (Quiet Stop) pads. They were $88 at Fisher. You should be able to get these at any Raybestos dealer.

Message: For Off roading I am finding out that I need to keep the slotted and drilled rotor clean since the purpose is defeated when they get full of mud!
But I did manage to crack the ceramic pads after 16K but they replaced them for free. Also had the rotors turned after 16K from lack of cleaning.
All in All it is a good setup.

Message: Unforunately, I have had nothing but bad luck with the Powerslot and Ceramix combo! I am getting ready to turn the rotors for the second time within 12K miles and toss the pads for some Stillen's or something decent. Oh well, learned my expensive lesson I guess.
