 Subject: 4.7 auto when does yours shift

I have a 2003 dakota auto with the 4.7. It looks as though my truck shift at 5300 rpm's at WOT. I thought it was set to 4800. Could my tach be off. Would an aftermarket tach be more accurate?

I have a 2002 dakota 3.9L Auto, I notice the exact same thing. It shifts at or under 4800 most of the time, but at WOT when I really get on it, it jumps up over 5000. Not sure why?
I just called a friend of mine with a 2001 4.7L Auto, he just informed me his does the same too.

I was recently checking out all of the speed conversion charts online. According to these conversions when i punch in the speed that my truck shifts at and all the other data, it says its shifting at around 4800 and not the 5300 that i see.

Mine shifts at 5300 also, or 5000, or 4000, or whenever I shift it.
Oh, you said an auto? Oh, never mind.
Sorry, I just had to

mine says 4900 so i disconnected the tranny pressure plug (a tip from an old post) it shifted at 5800 so the tach said i also think i read something about temp. being a part of the shift point rpm not sure though
