Dakota man, there's a real easy trick to doin this, I have the 02 with a 4.7 as well. When you get close to 98mph, turn your key forward slightly until the speedometer stops working (this happens at low speeds as well) and lay on the gas. I know this works cause I tried it just last weekend. Keep in mind that if you go to far, you will engage the starter. The other thing that goes off is the radio, haha. But if your using this function the same way I am, it's only when your racing someone, and I don't expect to stay above 98 for a very long. If you do plan on driving at speeds above 98 on a regular basis, I think you will have to go with a chip or something.

Just don't turn it to far. If you turn it just a little, and keep an eye on your speedometer you will see it drop to zero (or listen for the radio to go off). It does this about half way between the on position, and when it engages the starter. I don't think i would attemp to do this on a bumpy road though. Like I said, I wouldn't recommend this method for a prolonged period of time, but if your racing someone, it could come in handy, especially if you don't have the money to go get the mods.

This is realy odd because I have had my truck up to 105 a few times recently and it was still pulling at that speed. Oh well, guess I am just lucky

You can turn the key as far as you want, anytime as long as the truck is running. You could even do it at idle, (The Starter will not engage). I have done this many many many times. As your getting close to the speed limiter just turn the key all the way like your starting the truck and speedo and radio shut off, let off and they come right back on.

Adam, I never tried to turn it very far, is that like a saftey switch that won't let the starter engage when the engine is running or something. I thought the starter wasn't engaging because I didn't turn it all the way, but I guess thats not the case. Thanks for the input, now I don't have to be so worried about it.
