just got some champion 4412 truck plugs for my 5.9 and they are great...kinda made my idle shakier but it's still around 700 rpm in gear and i noticed better response...screw autolite...i had them in my 3.9 and they did nothing but give me worse gas mileage and rougher idle...we resort to autolite plugs too quickly..."i have bad gas mileage"..."get some autolites!"..."i have spark knock"..."get some autolites!"..."my left front shock is worn"..."get some autolites!"..."i have a headache"..."take 2 autolites with a glass of water after meals"...doesnt ford put autolites in their cars?...there's the number one reason why we shouldnt use autolites...

Friends, Autolite sparkplugs are ignition engineered for your specific application.
Often, choosing the incorrect sparkplug, even using new ones, can result in lower performance for your automobile.

But Autolite sparkplugs are tops in their class for:
1. Fast starts.
2. Smooth idle
3. Improved performance.
4. Better fuel economy.

All backed by a two year unlimited mileage warranty.

So this spring, pay a visit to your local Autolite dealer and ask for Autolite brand sparkplugs by name.

No matter what your drive, you are always right with Autolite!

Good night!

I tried two sets of the 3923's and two sets of Champions before finding the best plug for me. It was the NGK's, one heat range colder. I can't remember the exact number. These improved fuel economy, driveability, performance, idle, starting, etc. These plugs are far superior to the Autolites. I was not impressed by the Autolites at all.

If you run champions, I have a brige to sell you, it is located on the left coast. Do yourself a favor, erase the word champion from your databanks! NGK, Autolite, Bosch, etc are all better then the garbage from chumpion. Dodge uses their garbage from the factory, and the plugs actually "ERODE" down to nothing in 30,000 miles. I have never seen this by any other manufacturer. If you have a story about this, please post!

OK. I am fairly new to this forum so go easy on me guys! 2 things: I won't use the word spark plug (as to avoid anymore annoying pop ups! ha ha.) #2 Have to thank heavy weight for the info on the champions s********s. Got 27000 on my 01 SLT Plus 4.7 5sp man. QC 4x4. Was planning on changing them this weekend. Can u give me (Rookie) any specifics i need for the ngk's for my application? THANKS!! P.S Go ahead , bring on the smack I can take it. P.S.S. Live in the great N.W. (Northern Idaho) Alot of two lane roads. nearest interstate is 80mi north. I love my 4.7 Dak. Gotta say dropping her down to 3rd at 60 or so & taking the line of seniors in front of me is a kick. (ok, it's a chub if i really gotta push it to avoid impact!) Test drove a fare share of the other crap, got in the Dak & never looked back!

Anything but Champion!
IP: Logged

Message:
Antonio, you can purchase anything but Champion to replace the garbage you truck came with. Make sure you gap the plug at .40 gap. Use the slightest amount of anti-seize on the threads to prevent galling and or stripping. You have to remove the intake hat and loosten the AC lines. The coil packs have one screw that needs to be removed along with an electrical snap at the top. Pull the coils from the sparkplugs and use some compressed air or shop vac to clean the hole! There are a few topics regarding spark plug change, do a search and check it out! If you have any more questions, let them FLY!

So you think Dodge doesn't know what they are doing? The stock Champion "garbage" plugs from the factory are just copper tips...they're not supposed to last 50K mi like a platinum tip plug...What car manufacturer is going to make all their engines with all the "premium" parts that give that particular engine and set up of their line the best performance?...nobody...If that was the case, then every RT would come stock out of the factory with dual flowmaster mufflers and a K&N cone filter instead of an airbox...and 3 12's under the back seat...And a fold down mattress in the bed...Ok i let my imagination run too far...

Good call Heavyweight, for people that want to change plugs themselves I would consider using an air blower to clean out the heat sleeves before you pull out the plugs on your engine. if you can't get to an air compressor like most people, just buy a can of air for use cleaning keyboards and elec components.

You boy's are having fun ragging on the Autolite's, but if you stop and think about the plugs your installing (3923) they aren't the recommended plug for Dodge engines the (5224) is, So....why don't you install the correct Autolite's in your truck and have a great day ;)

Harlow, I got the 5224 in my truck, and personally, I didn't notice anything better about them than the cheaper Bosch resistor core plugs(not platinum) I had in before. I'm going to try the Champions again this go round, and probably the NGK's next.

If you ask me people spend way too much time thinking about spark plugs...It's not a mod, it's just maintenence...So why are you going to put a spark plug that runs with ford in your truck?...If you were buying a new set of headers for your kota, would you order the part number for a 5.0 mustang?...

the Champion truck plugs you are so fondly talking about, have an anodized shell and heavier porcalin and insulators. Have them in my 3.9 Dak and my wifes 4.0 Cherokee. Have had absolutely NO problems with either truck. as has been stated in the past, a spark plug will NOT add 100 hp! they are maintenence items. we sell them at Auto Zone for 2.49 each. a standard champion plug is 1.29 each. BEACH LIFE AND BOAT DRINKS GUYS! let the flaming begin!!!!!!!! lol
