Message: If at all possible get the 4500 and you'll have a real transmission. No offense, but the NV3500 in my truck is whiney in 1st and 2nd. Maybe it doesn't matter but I don't like it, and I think a seal blew on it too up top around the shifter. Not sure yet but I need to fix it soon !!
That's all with 30k on the rig. Duner on the other hand is running 12's with his NV 3500 with no trouble so far for a year or so. Maybe I got a lemon???????????????

Message: Or just spend the extra cash and get a tremec TKOII tranny from keislerauto.com. Flywheel, shifter, driveshaft included.

Message: IF you plan on abusing it, go for the 4500... a few beans now will save a lot more later... I have had decent luck with the 3500's but I did manage to ruin the 2nd gear synchro's around 50k miles in my old truck...

Message: The NV4500 is a RAM 2500 series and up tranny. It will not fit in the dakota nor bolt in. The TKO tranny from kiesler would be you best bet.

Message: Oh yeah, be sure that if you get the 4500, that you also get a Sawzall. That way you can cut the floorboard up so that the 4500 will fit in your Dakota. Here's a picture....
