Subject: 4.7 Exhaust, will this work? IP: Logged
Message: I am thinking of buying some headers. Could I run true dual exhaust by running each header into the precat then to a muffler, so it would be two seperate exhaust on each side.. What exactly qualifies as true duals?

Message: It can be done, not quite the way you described, though. You can't run true duals right down each side of the truck, due to the gas tank. But a few people on here have true duals. I recomend using an X-pipe too, so as to not sound like dual four bangers.

Message: Save your money for other mods first, Gavin. The factory exhaust manifolds work within 2 per cent of headers. A cross-over pipe is intended to balance the pulses between the two sides after the exhaust manifolds.

Message: 01motorsport is correct. the stock exhaust is really good the cross over pipe does bring the two pulses together but, the distance from the manifold for the crossover is important. generally you build the dual exhaust all the way out spray i line of paint down the side of the pipe start the motor run it for a couple minutes. where the paint stops burning off is supposed to be the place for the crossover.ive done this and you can tell a considerable gain in power and the exhaust note sound really good when they are balanced like this hope this helps.

Message: azdak, do you put the crossover where the paint stops or starts burning off? Someone told me to put it where it starts to burn off the fastest. Let me know.
