Message: Hey everyone,
Just want to let you know I'm new to this and was wondering if I could get some help... My problem is this. I just bought this truck... One owner with 195k miles... It was his work truck.. I got it for $1500.00 I didn't think it was a bad deal.. It came with a topper and new tires so I took it.. Anyways I just had a check engine light come on and had it checked at Autozone. Found that it was the O2 sensor. I replaced it and all was well. Now, here is the real problem. When I go to floor it (I don't do this all the time by the way! LOL) I noticed that the engine bogs down.. After I take my foot off the gas it's fine.. I accelerate fast but not to fast without it bogging down or "Bucking" What could this possibly be?? I changed the PVC Valve and the Air Filter... Could it be that I have a clogged Cat Converter or clogged injectors? I don't know! Let me know whatcha think so I can get this fixed. Hopefully I can do this myself cause Lord knows I don't want to nor to I have the money to pay a mechanic hundreds of dollars to fix my $1500 truck.. I have already been through that with a Ford Bronco (Which I will never own another one suffice to say!) Well look forward to what you guys come up with!
Many Thanks,
Geoff

Message: Thanks for the tip. I'm not really sure if it's the cat.converter.. I don't hear any rattling noise from it or anything. The only time the truck "Bucks" or "Stutters" is when I mash on the accelerator. Would the spark plugs and wires contribute to something like this? It would seem to me that this would be stemming from a fuel flow issue or something to that effect.
Thanks again!

Message: It's the cat. I had a 97 with the 5.2 do the same thing. My suggestion is to replace it with a high-flow cat. Should cost you around $100 for the cat. CarSound and Dynomax are good brands. I went with Dynomax before, but I'm getting ready to replace the cat on my 99 and I think I'm gonna try the CarSound. You should get this fixed fairly quickly. A bad cat can cause the O2 sensor to go bad which is probably why the original one went bad.
