Subject: 5.9 Water Pump Replacment IP: Logged
Message: I've got a 98 Durango 5.9 4x4 with 62K. Water pump appears to be leaking out of the weep holes. It looks like an easy replacement, but I would like a some recommendations as to what water pump I should use. The Dodge dealership wants $115, Autozone & Orielly's have NEW pumps for ~$60. Anyone have any experience with these?

Message: My cousin just replaced a water pump on his '97 Z71 Chevy with only 28K on it. He told me the dealer wanted $150 for a lifetime warranty replacement, while O'Reilly had one for $62. He bought the pump at O'Reilly and had the dealer install it. If it's a good pump with a lifetime warranty, not some foreign counterfeit, I'd go with it.

Message: The Autozone water pumps are Bosch water pumps with lifetime warranty. Get it, and install youself. Domes with all needed gaskets, just get some RTV to make sure it don'e leak.

Message: I was reading on other forums that the timing chain should be replaced on these every 60-80K? While I have the water pump off, should I go ahead and do this at63K? How involved is the job? DO I have to remove the accessory mounting hardware? Thanks everyone!

Message: Just went to Orielly's and Autozone. Neither sell Bosch pumps where I live (DFW). I could probably sh1t a better quality looking pump than Orielly's new Master water pump. Autozone's new ASC pump looks as good as the Mopar tho. I would still like to know what the best timing chain would be to put on?

Message: Flowkooler is the best. Part # 1790 from Summit Racing. I think mine was $130. Anything else is just a stock replacement, these are high performance pumps.

Message: doing my 2nd water pump at 95k. WTF Mopar?
Dealer installed firts one under warranty, and won't honor its lifetime warranty. Of course they want $250 to install a new one. Autozone was the best lifetime pump for the money.
