Didn't the HP drop after the '93 model?
I thought the '93 318 had 230 and the ones after were down to 220.
Is that wrong?

'92-'93 = 230hp

Wrong, the 1995 models had 230hp. I know that for a fact. I own one and have checked the specs before on multiple occasions. I guess the only real test is pulling the engine out and hooking it up to some kind of machine to test the HP, but I'm not going that far with it.

i'm selling a set of '93 exhaust manifolds that are most likely the ten hp. gain in those motors, (they flow better)and are the correct cast #'s.$45

I owned a 94 Dak 318 5 spd trans. The HP is 220@4400 rpm and torque is 295@3200. Mopar changed the cam in 94 to give more torque down low with a flatter curve. The exhaust manifolds had nothing to do with it. The 93 was 230hp and I believe 280lb/ft of torque.

in a 2000 durango it's 230 hp and 300 lbs/tq
five less horsepower than a 4.7 and 5 lbs/tq more
6.6 Lt. Big Block, 727 TF shift kit, 452 heads, edelbrock 750 cfm, .513/.513 284/300 crower cam, comp cams springs, comp cams pushrods, 1.5 roller rockers, dp intake, mopar ignition, mopar windage tray, dual exhaust w/ 40 series flowmasters, 4.10 gears, coilover drag suspension, approx, 3500 lbs

ur funny - I'm sorry but you are incorrect. I still have the original brochure and I believe the original window sticker. 94 is when they introduced a new HD 5 sp manual trans for the 5.2 V8. I know, I purchased this vehicle new and put over 100K on it. You may want to check your sources.

The 5-speed tranny came out in 1994. Mopar Action tested a RC 5-spd 5.2 with 3:92, and found out that the automatic 3:92 was 1 second quicker in the 1/4 mile because the manual would just not hook up. Of course, the crappy 75 series tires didn't help either. Gen.II 5.2 5-speeds are quite rare. The '92-'93 exhaust manifolds WERE the real deal; over 1/4" larger inside diameter than the '94-up.

I burned a valve and I have a good 360 out of
a 97 that had a automatic.What am I going to
have to do to swap engines.

I stumbled across this post and didn't read all the replays but
the years vary in hp rating at the crank not to mention for how
old even a 1995 318 is and how it's been maintained or
abused or even what vehicle option it's in can vary how the
power could feel or how much the engine makes now so many
years after production even if the engine made 230 hp to the
crank when you have it in the vehicle it could be down to 170
at the wheels and if it's been abused and not maintained well
or high mileage you will see lower numbers than that.
