Subject: 4.7 Headers - ebay IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone gotten these installed yet? I am going to buy some today (if noone outbids me) or tomorrow.
What P/N gaskets are you using and what mods were needed to get these to fit? I am hoping to have mine in hand in about a week and a half and installed a week or so after that...
Thanks Guys,
Chris

Message: Check it out,
On my set I bought, the #8 cylinder header tube had to be reworked with a die-grinder and re-welded. BUT, the driver side header was fine and these headers look mean!! I'm sure they'll perform as well as any other brand.
As far as the gasket goes, I went to O'Really's and bought a tube of this Hi-Temp gasket maker stuff. You just put a thin bead on the header and let it dry for 10 minutes then install them. It's guaranteed not to leak if done right.
You can also buy gasket material and fabricate your own, either way, but I prefer the simplicity of the "goo".

Message: Still haven't installed em' yet cuz I'm waiting to figure out the next route to take. I am planning on a turbo system in the future that will incorporate a full new exhaust system, and the fact that I don't make that much money slows it all down. As far as sealing the headers Oreilley's sells some rtv that works for hi-temp app's and that's what I'm gonna use for em.
I plan to actually use the header flange from the stock manifold to fabricate a new turbo-manifold from scratch. But I want to have that driver's side flowing as well as the pass. side with the turbo in place.
I read about a specific head-surfacing and gasket combo that will not require o-ringing the block so that will actually speed up the whole project, although it appears that Duner is running 14 psi. on stock head-gaskets without any problems. The pistons are all Im worried about, but a nice FAT intercooler should be just what it needs to protect from detonation. I plan to run an aux. fuel port somewhere into the intake to optimized the A/F ratio under heavy boost, much like a Nitrous injection fogger or something like that. Gotta be careful about blowing fuel out the blow-off valve though ;) he he. That should be avoidable with some sort of TB fuel port. Gettin pretty stoked about the whole custom-fab project and I plan on the best setup for the 4.7 to date, and it looks like I have some pretty stiff competition so far. A 12.46 will sure be nice, but I really want 11's, but that won't be had on stock internals, or my present budget.
That was a long post

Message: BUT if the fuel came out the blow-off valve and you could ignite it.. a small ball of fire would be so cool on the street if you could control it.. talk about signalling the end of the trun when you lift HUH???
I am jsut amazed that noone has any installed yet... it looks like it may be up to us...

Message: Duner and a dude that fried his motor are the only 4.7's I know of so far.
Duner knows his stuff and the other guy didn't I guess.
14 psi and holding sounds good enough to me. Just imagine with some headwork and a primo exhaust setup. Those "4.7 hopeless??" dudes will be gawkin at our 12 second trucks. Hopeless?????!!!
These Mustang guys here at the school don't like me tellin em' my truck will run a 14.8 all day long nearly stock...
I don't call that hopeless!!!
