Borla and JBA. However, the 4.7L manifolds breath very well as is. Headers for the 4.7L aren't really requried unless you plan on supercharging and/or running at high rpms (5000+).

So I might want to look into them if the HO cams fit. I want a 72mm TB and custom programmed PCM.

Why don't these companies just sell reprogrammed PCM's for the 4.7L's instead of having to send away for them. For the reprogramming all they have to do is take a stock PCM and hook a computer up to it right? It's not like they have to go in and start sodering away. Am I missing something very complex here?

The fact that you have to flash a VIN into the computer and I am pretty sure it can't be changed. Also the cost would double with the computer.

I'm with CThomp,,,It's a simple flash of the computer. The only real cost would be the price of the computer,,and the labor in developing the program itself. After the initial release it should drop in price dramatically.
Of course CW has a good point too. The serial number would be difficult to deal with I guess.

The program already exists. Mike Leach, KRC, and Kenne Bell have a program or a variation. Your local dealership can flash (not reprogram) your serial number stuff on their can't they? That or couldn't the company selling the PCM just get that info from the individual and put it into the product as part of the ordering info. Seems simple to me but please tell me if i'm making no sense. When flashing a vin don't they just type in the number via a computer port or upload the number into the PCM via the same idea?

You just type in the number but once it is in there it can't be changed, although I haven't tried to change it yet to find out. If it could be changed I am sure they would have a exchange program.

Flashing the VIN into the PCM really isn't necessary for the PCM to work properly. I've had a Mopar Performance PCM in my Neon for years and never bothered to have the VIN uploaded, even though the directions said to do so.

I mean for a exchange program so that there was no down time for the truck. You don't get your own PCM from the programmer. You just send for a PCM and one comes in the mail then you send your old one bcak to the vender. I think it would be a good thing myself.

I got ya..it'd be like a core exchange. Makes sense. But the vendor wouldn't be able to use the old PCM for anything. It'd just be a used PCM

If you sent it back to the vendor then he could flash that one and sell it. If there was no VIN to put in it would work great. Oh well.

Nope, never had a check engine light. A PCM with no VIN is not one of the items that would trip the light.

I've been working on the new 2003, 2004 Dodge Rams, and I've discovered a way in software to change the VIN number on the vehicle. If the PCM is the same for the dakotas it is very possible to change the VIN. You just need the seed/key information.
