I have a 2001 quad cab with the 5.9 and i put a KN cold air on it and i was wondering if putting a good duel exhaust cat back is gonna raise the gas milage or drop it? and what other mods can i do to it to raise the gas mileage?
its not supposed to get good milage but i wanna get it as much horse and milage as possible.

I got a good increase in power with a catback Gibson exhaust system. Probably slightly helped mpg

I put a Gibson single side exhaust on my 01 5.9 QC and really like it. I wish I had got the all stainless model rather than the "aluminized" one.
I told my wife that all of my mods were done to increase gas mileage. I believe most of them actually did.

I have heard that a MSD ignition will raise it a mpg or so, and help out a little with power.

underdrive pulleys might. i don't know for sure but it sounds good. also, does it have electric fan? put on some kind of cat-back, that WILL help with mpg and HP. if you don't like your waranty then go ahead and gut the cat or remove it while your at it.

The exhaust does absolutely nothing except sound better. If you are anywhere but far south, removing the fan will help a small amount. Not as much as the older trucks due to its size. Bumping the timing up helps some.
I get 16 mpg towing 2 jetskiis (1400# but alot of drag) doing 75 mph w/OD off or on it doesn't matter. Summer time will get around 19 highway.

I just bought a 99 R/T with a flowmaster on it, and its kind of a turd, will a catback gibson exhaust system help out or am I better off with the flowie
