HI,
I am experiencing a major problem with my 2000 Durango R/T. On heavy acceleration, the rpms are going into the rev limiter. The truck refuses to shift into second gear unless I let off on the gas. I have gone to two dealerships and they stated this was normal for an R/T because it has the 5.9 liter V8. They state that if the truck shifts into second, transmission damage will occur because the engine is so powerful. I personally think they are full of SH*T. Please advise me if what they are saying is correct. This did not occur when I first bought the truck. I have the K&N generation air filter system. Otherwise, I have never and don't plan on doing any modifications. Why does Dodge make an R/T and put a 5.9 V8 if what I am told is true? Please help me out!!!! What should I do? Thank you!

The corvettes do the same thing. Shifts from 1st to 3rd and skipps second. there is a chip you can buy to bypass this. you also might be able to reprogram your pcm.

Harry!!! Go to The general forum and click on the title WOT part 2! Alright this is happening to many of us and doing this fixed mine! It was doining the exact same thing! My truck even bent a pushrod cuz it was revving to high! There is an adjustment with the TV cable! You want to try this believe me! Mine shifts fine now!

Harry- My 02 R/T did the same thing took it back to the dealer and they said the govoners in the valve body were shot already....they replaced it and "suggested" that I quit racing it. Then we both had a good laugh...hahaha
