 Subject: 180 Thermostat

I have an 03 4.7 and I want to drop to a 180 thermostat. I have been unsucessful in finding a brand and part number. Does anyone have recommendations?

Just go to auto zone or pep boys and ask for one that's how i got mine or you can look on truck performance.com they have thermostats too.

Duh Fran~~ it makes the whole engine turn 180 degrees to the right. I think its pretty self explanatory.

Matt...actually thats totally incorrect. My engine turned 180 degrees to the left, although I thinks thats the same position since their is only 360 degrees in a circle?

only correct part of that last post was "360" a 5.9L 360 IS EXACTLY WHAT ALL U POWER HUNGRY DAK OWNERS SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT...

dakotaaa...Yes I do have a 5.9 360, thank you.
franlofter...The 180 degree T-Stat is used because it helps lower the engine temp, which usually helps with a little more power. This is not necessary unless you have mods like Supercharger or an M1 with a larger Throttle body....etc. Never hurts to run your engine a few degrees cooler, especially if you live in a warn climate.

Mr. Help,
maybe you could research this first, it would save you alot of time, etc.
it's not in any book, geeks at parts counters usually look in books, and tell you it doesn't exist. It's the same stat as the magnum engine.
The RobertShaw GT755-180 works, that's waht I have, someone posted the stant #s.
Good luck, read up on some good instructions, and save yourself alot of work and unnecessary work, etc.

Why do F-1 engines run b/t 1 and 3 liters with 6 cylinders and turn 1500 hp with turbos? Because of build quality, NOT size. The 4.7 is built MUCH better than a 360 HANDS DOWN. Maybe some of these 360 guys should've researched the 4.7 a little more closely.
Two words; bearing cradle.........

If it didn't have the bearing cradle it would fly apart. Nothing is done without need at the big three.
