Subject: H.O. Cam made check engine light come on IP: Logged
Message: I am not sure what is going on here,
tonight I was turning on my road and I punched it down and was revving it out and the truck was around 80-90 and I happened to look down and the check engine light stated flashing. The truck kind of seemed like it didn't want to shift to the next gear, maybe cause it was really windy and I was fighting it head on, but the tach had to be over 5500 rpm. Does anybody know when you hit just under the rev limiter when driving does the check engine light come on? I have never seen this before. Everything sounded fine, the power didn't cut out and the guages were just like normal, but that light blinking like that worried me. It only did it till it finally shifted then it stopped. If it helps I have a 2002 CC 4x4. I am wondering if there is even a problem, or if the pcm just got confused? I also checked the fluids and looked for leaks or bad noises and there wasn't anything abnormal. I don't know, maybe it is telling me it wants more mods :) Anyway sorry for the long post

Message: try to pull the codes to see if there are any, but I suspect that the tranny is the problem not the cams.

Message: I think it was just being weird, I tried the exact same thing the next night in the same spot and it wouldn't do it again, I might check to see if their are any codes, but I am not too worried anymore.

Message: Could some one let me know if there is a way to get the codes from the computer. With out useing a special code reader.I know that Chevy has it where you jumper two wires in the wireing harness for the coder reader.

Message: Turn your ignition on and off three times, and it will display the code where the odometer is.

Message: close- only turn it off twice, you'll need to leave it on to read the code.

Message: Nothing was wrong with my truck after all, it just was telling me it wanted more power. I did have to go in to the dealer for a software update (flash) but it was an update. And no, it wasn't the death flash, believe me I thought it was going to be!
