I have an 03 4.7 cc 4x4 Sport Plus with the 16x8 rims. I am trying to find out what the biggest tires I can put on these rims without any alterations and still have no rubbing/etc. Has anyone got any success stories for bigger tires?

I'm very proud of you, found it, but that didn't quite answer my question or help me in any way. Thanks though....

I dont think you can go that much higher than you have now. your stock size is almost a 32 inch tire. 245 70 16 i think is what comes stock but you may be able to go to a 265 70 16. I can always trade you for my 33x12.5x15 mud tires which are almost new. they do require slight trimming of the plastic wheel wells otherwise they fit its a 2000 4x4. they fit with the wheel plastic also but it rubs on full turns like a U turn. Im looking to sell mine so I dont really care about leaving the winch the bumper the tires or the tonneau on the truck cause the dealer doesnt want to give me anythign for it

I currently have the 245/70 R16's, the upgrade option that somehow managed to evade my truck was the 265/70 R16's. My last Dakota had the 31 10.5X15's (it also had the 318 and and a 5 speed). This new one looks like a littly wussy truck with the things that came stock. I would be interested in your tires (I would need rims too, mine are 16's). Shoot me an e-mail ibgazoo@netzero.net

Thanks
Mike

Just in case anyone was wondering, after a lot of searching and peoples testimonials, the biggest tire you can fit on a stock 16 inch rim (x7 or x8) and have no rubbing without further alterations in a 275/70R16 (this is for the 4x4 models). I have heard great things about the BFG T/A KO, anyone have any recommendations? I am looking of course for the most mean and aggressive look while not totally wasting the tire away on my mostly pavement use. What tires have you out there used, and which do you think look the best? (I'm asking from a non-lifted stock rim application)

Thanks for your input.

I just went that route with my 03 quad 4X4. The 285x75x16s rub on the front - you may be able to crank up the torsion bar to clear. I went to the 265x75x16s. Speedo is off about 4.5 mph at 60 (actually doing 64.5). Looks much better than stock. Probably more drag an less MPG with the 285s meats anyway.

BFG T/A KO is the way to go. Great bite, but still runs quiet on the road. Seen them go 80,000 on lighter trucks, maybe 50 - 60,000 miles on our Daks ?

Cooper Discover S/T LT265/75 R16

Only rubbing so far is at half-turn in reverse. Otherwise nada.

Should last between 40k and 50k of highway driving and only cost ~$130ea (with mounting & balancing.
