I used to own a 1998 Plymouth Breeze. Where I live, it seems like everyone drives a pickup, minivan, or suv. It wasn't fun driving around town when you are smaller than everyone else.
As well, you can't see over anything when you are so close to the ground and everyone else towers over you.
I couldn't afford a used Ram, so a Dak was my second choice.
I found a really nice used 1995 Dak 4x4, so I traded in my brand new Breeze for the Dak and I haven't regretted it since.
Oh yeah, reasons for my Dak :
- sits higher than my Breeze
- much safer in an accident
- sharp looking
- it is a Dodge !

Brother in Law bought new '91 2WD stick for $10K. Drove it 50,000 mi and gave to his brother, who put on another 100,000+. Bro just bought new 2001 replacement for ~$12K and sold '91 to me for $1.5K. Tho a work truck, it received top maintainance.
Today I put in new timing belt and front seal, and at Christmas a Granddaughter gets it for her college car. It's WAAAAAY to nice to let out of the family, and makes much more sense for a college student than a tinny little bubble car.

I bought my '00 dakota because:
I hate FWD handling
I love having a v-8 (4.7)
I like rowing my own gears (5spd)
I hate the chevy 4.3 with unholy passion
Fords just seemed, well, too Ford-like
and I could custom order it to suit my needs.
(4 wheel ABS, Intense Blue Metallic Paint,
RCSB. 2 wheel peel, "anti-spin diff," heavy
duty service group, etc....)
I just wish that some scum bag hadn't keyed
the passeenegr side door, fender, rear 1/4... :(

Why I bought my dak-
1.Ranger and S10 are too small for me, I'm 6'3".
2.V8 power
3.Nicer looking body panels
4.Seeing the orange streetscene dakota made me want one.
5.No one in my area had one lowered and I wanted to be the first.(That was 4 years ago)
6.It's just a nice Fu**in truck.
