Subject: What size slicks
IP: Logged

Message:
I was wondering if anyone knows about slicks and which size to get. I was told that I should get a 15x8 rim...but which size should i get for the slicks. I am thinking around a 26 inch, but i am not sure. I want my gear ratio to change for the track also so i would want a smaller tire than normal right. Any help would be nice.

For the R/T, if you don't plan on actually doing a gear swap in the differential, then the 26" slick is recomended. 28" is the factory diameter for the R/T, and the 26" will give you an effective 4.20 gear ratio at the track. I woudl recomend 26x10.5x15 Hoosier QTP, or M/T ET Streets

Just a thought: The taller a tire (or slick) you use, the more HP it "robs". Think about it, it's like a lever working against your engine.

Yep I have tried a 29" slick at the track one time, actually got a worse time then my 28" street tires. 26" for NA works well, even with nitrous or a supercharger. I wouldn't go any taller then what you already have, unless you get a lower gear.

26 x 10.5 x 15 Mickey Thompson E.T. Streets.

You could even put them on a 15 x 7 rim.

Thet HOOK like a MOFO.
