Subject: Homemade intake easy air dam IP: Logged
Message: I finally got rid of my cardboard air dam for my homemade ABS PVS K&N cone filter intake for our 4.7L. I used three old license plates. It fits all the way from the frame at the bottom of the engine compartment up to the side of the top of the radiator fan shroud. I bolted 2 of the plates together and slid them up next to the upper radiator fan shroud. THe top plate could only go as far as the upper metal a/c line. THen, it took a little effort but got the third plate bolted on at the bottom. THe bottom plate slides nicely in between the lower radiator hose and the radiator fan shroud. If want a picture, email me at tadwms@gbis.com. I used one piece of wire to hold it in place. It is wedged in pretty good so I don't think it will fall out or move much. THen I removed the front rubber cover and now have good cold air flow with better protection from the hot air from the radiator. I keep the rubber flap in the truck for quick install if it snows.
