Subject: FUEL PUMP ISSUES! IP: Logged
Message: OK, Here is the question. I have a 1999 Dakota with a 5 speed and the 318. The truck quit on me yesterday while I was pulling my trailer. I replaced the fuel pump, checked all my fuses and relays and I still have no fuel pressure!! What the hell is causing this to happen. Oh, I also checked the wire going to the fuel pump and there is no power. The thing that sucks is that I'm down $215 for the fuel pump and $120 for the tow home. The old pump works when I run a jumper to it! I guess this thing was built on a Monday! WHAT DO I DO NOW? ANY IDEAS ON WHAT THIS COULD BE?

probe around until you can isolate where the power stops

Message: there are quit a few mechanics on here but with your attitude you won't find sh1t. Clueless the problem is in your wiring or a fuse you DID NOT properly check or a bad relay that you don't know how to check. The fact that you have no power to the fuel pump connection proves this. Calm your heinny down and start checkin again, and with less attitude.

Message: Hey stain! I have two test lights. One is a Snap-On and noe is a MAC. I used the Mac one and got no signal because the Mac one couldn't get deep enough to hit the terminal. I reused the Snap-On tester and had no problems. So Go suck a Dick

Message: Hey 1999Dak. Why on earth would you not check the simple stuff before you post a question? That way when someone tries to help you, they know that you are at least a little compitent. OH, by the way, did those fancy test lights come with instructions??
I SURE HOPE YOU DON'T NEED ANY MORE HELP, CAUSE YOUR AN A$$HOLE. THE ONLY REASON YOU POST HERE IS CAUSE NOBODY IN THE REAL WORLD CAN STAND TO BE AROUND YOU. THE MOPAR TECH PROBABLY WONT EVEN TAKE YOUR CALLS, CAUSE YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A RUDE LITTLE PISSANT. SOLVE YOUR OWN PROBLEMS BITCH!!!

Message: I guess you sure told me now! You guys have no sense of humor. When he told me to stick my probe in it, it just sounded a little bit funny so I replied with a comment because I had already done that as posted in my original question! litlpunisher- seemed to take that a little personal instead of jokingly. I guess you guys have no sense of humor and are perfect.... Oh because I'm a new guy on here you guys must think that 1999Dakota doesn't know Sh!t about automechanics.... I don't mean to turn heads guys but I'm not a dumb ass and I appreciate your replies to this question. If you call me a dumb ass and tell me I know nothing about relays and such then Of Course your gonna hear my mind.. I'm not trying to start anything around here so give me some slack.....

Message: Well we took of the whole fuel tank to locate the fuel pump and found that the fuel pump and harness are working properly. What we did find is a clicking in the circuit cluster where the fuel pump relay is located? Also there is power going to the pump for less than a second then kicks off! Sound like some type of circuit shuts off!We checked all the relays and fuses but nothing. Anyone have an idea??

Message: Please help! I have a 94 dakota 4x4 5.2 manual trans 120k and my fuel pump and fuel gage quit working. there were no warning signs that there was a problem just came home one night shut it off and the next morning it wouldn't start. It runs if I pour a little fuel in the intake so there is no spark issue, when I turn the key on my relays click on and then the auto shut down relay clicks off, with the key on I have 10.8 volts at the pump connection is that enough to run the pump ?

Message: just a quick followup on the last entry my fuel gage works, the connection was a little loose and I have already replaced the pump and my old one works fine when I test it out of the truck so that was a waste of money!
