I have a 1993 dodge dakota, just shut off at a stop light. The truck cranks over but will not start. I couldn't hear the fuel pump when I turned the key. I changed the fuel pump and filter checked the fuses and relay. Still no sound at the fuel tank and no gas coming from fuel tank. I was told to check for spark from the spark plugs not sure how to check this. What to do?

To check for ignition spark you can pull the coil from from the coil, turn the engine over and look and listen for spark from the ooil. Check fuel pump fuses and relay. Then check the wiring in the harness about 4 to 6 inches below the fuse box. you'll have to remove the wire loom and any tape there. There is a splice with 3 wires to one wire. Clean and repair the splice. It is notorious for getting corroded and causing loss of power to the fuel pump and coil.

My gues would be it's the splice that is the problem.

Ok I think I know what it mite be the oil dip stick incert on the
motor does not have the rubber bushing so it's blowing oil out I
noticed it just now it smells like oil bad I think the oil safety
shut down kicks in and that's why when I let it set for a couple
hours I'm not positive but the way it didn't want to start that's
what had happend on a car I had when it got low in oil but now
I'm leaking water to so it mite be the safety shut off for that
Maybe water pumps going out will replace both and I'll repost
on what happens but if anyone has a idea please post and I'll
check it to see if that mite be it

don't think my Gages r working write but it seems like its hot is
why it shuts down I noticed a sound I thought was a belt
squeaking but as I think about it it sounds like maybe the water
pump bearing

I have a 2007 Dakota, about a week ago the check engine light came on checked codes with obdII scanner and got back p0456 & p0457, both relate to emissions leak, however no drivability issues, replace fuel cap, and two nights ago pulled in to drive way and smelled gas looked under truck and gas was running down side of tank, and inspected best I could the top of tank where module was located and I saw the top of tank around module was wet, was able to get my hand into the area and it was fuel.. Took fuel cap off and the leak stopped, but I am now I am getting code of p0463 which relates to fuel level sensor circuit to high and fuel gauge is not working correctly sometime it will read empty and sometimes it will read full or 1/2 tank, but its acting as if the pump has gone out or is out of fuel, I no its not out of fuel as I added 5 gal of fuel to it when it first showed signs of not cranking... Has any one run into a problem pump module leaking outside the tank, associated with malfunctioning fuel level sensor, What are anyones thought on this? I hate to put new module assembly in if theres another cause...
