Subject: IAT a"bust"er? IP: Logged
Message: So, am I just another dope that fell for the ol IAT adjuster joke? If its not a joke, then help me out with this thing.
I made one myself following the instructions found on this site. The only problem was, I never found how to wire up the 50k pot.
Anyone built one, that worked? I like the on off capabilities over the IAT relocate mod.

Message: Basicall the IAT under the hood comes into the box, goes through one side of the switch to the factory harness. When the switch is in the other position the 50k pot and the 1k res are in series to that position on the switch. The 1k res simply keeps the computer from seeing a no-ohm situation (short)...
Does this clear it up at all?

Message: Well,I understand how the process works and all, I just wasnt sure if I got the pot wired wrong or not. There is 3 terminals on the 50k pot so I wasnt sure which of the 2 to use. I feel like its together right but cant tell any difference in use. Many tests runs...lol. I also flipped the switch on and off fast and flipped the dial back and forth to trip the check engine light (to ensure that it was connected properly) and nothing happened. Should the RPM's differ a little when adjustmensts are made while engine is running?

Message: On the 50K pot, use the middle lead and either of the 2 outside leads. The middle lead should be the wiper, which is the output of the pot. If you have everything else as it should be, the thing will work when you turn the dial either clockwise or counter-clockwise, depending on which outside lead you're connected to.
I've got the schematic for it, but I didn't build it because I figured the potential gain wouldn't be worth the effort.

Message: YOu wouldn't see a difference in Rpm, by flipping or changing the settings.
At best, it's only a few, (less than 10) HP I think. If the ambient air is around 60F or below, it can't really do anything anyway.
this is a minor mod, in the right conditions, not an all time thing, at the flip of a switch.

Message: thanks alot man....i know when my truck is cold it really tears it up, the throttle respone is amazing, so I wouldn't mind building the box and trying it. If it doesn't work your out like 20 bucks...Cant go wrong.
