hello, i have a 1999 dakota v6 auto. 2wd extended cab and i am wondering if there is a way or a kit anywhere to swap the 440 big block in place of the v6. i have a 727 and a 904 auto. along with the 440 already on hand, now i just need some info about getting it in there. thanks

personnaly I think that you are out of your minnd bud. Your frame wil twist like mad, but if you do get it in therew come up to ontario so I can take a look. I own a 99 dakota R/T.

engine-swap.com They have kits for converting 87-96 Daks to Big blocks so give them a call. They might be able to do something for you.

I think Schumacker (sp?) has a kit as well... I hear they are pretty reputable...

It was either Four Wheeler Mag. or 4Wheel & Off Road that did this conversion in a Quad Cab Dakota a couple of years ago. I was glued to this article the whole time. It did work but took lots of fabricating. This swapped also included a complete customized lift w/ 44inch swampers. Check out those magazines web sites to see which one did this conversion.

That sounds kinda like he's gonna have to do to his Dakota like the HemiCruiser did on they're site. They drop a 426 Hemi in PT Cruisers but they have to pretty much rebuild the whole chassis & rearend from the ground up to handle all the torque.

I think Mopar has a kit that will let you put a 426 hemi in the dak. I would think fitting a wedge in there instead wouldn't be too much different.

If you'll can find the articles on a 426 swap all the info works due to the 440 being a smaller animal! I'm starting a swap this week on a 1998 Durango R/T 360 to a 440 w/ a chevy 700r4 possibly. All of my spare parts will be for sale by Friday. GOOD LUCK to us all! YOU CAN'T BEAT A MOPAR!!!
