Subject: 1995 Dakota manual transmission leak IP: Logged
Message: I have a problem that's just about to send me over the edge. I had a rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission put in my 1995 Dakota V-8, and the transmission shop cannot get it to stop leaking. There is a rubber gasket/boot type deal on the top, and it tears after just a few weeks of driving and leaks transmission fluid. This has caused FOUR transmissions to fail, all replaced under warranty. The shop owner has just thrown up his hands and says he's never had this problem before. He's no longer returning my phone calls and just wants me to go away. Has anybody every heard of this problem????

Message: Ive had that problem on mine. But that was because i installed the shifter gasket upside down. Soon I realized and reinstalled the correct way. No more leaks now.
