Message: Any one know where the coolant temp sensor is and how to check it? Would a bad sensor cause pinging? I was wondering if it is corroded or dirty it would tell the computer a faulty reading? My truck seems to ping under load ONLY when fully warmed up running about 180 degrees..

Message: It's more likely that the belly pan gasket on the bottom of the intake manifold is leaking. This allows engine oil to get sucked into the cylinders which causes it to ping. It is a VERY common problem and can be fixed by either replacing the tin gasket "plate" with the updated one or install and M1 intake manifold. To check if it's leaking, open the throttle body by hand (with the engine off) and shine a flashlight down the throttle body and see if there is any oil residue at the bottom of the intake manifold. If there is, that's your problem. There is a TSB out for it but don't have the number handy.
