Subject: KRC 408???? IP: Logged
Message: I wondering if anyone around "here" is running a KRC 408 in their Dakotas? I'm thinking about getting the street version, with the 408 cam, and forged internals. This is going in my '93 Dakota Sport, so before I plop down $7600 for a complete engine, I want some feedback.

Message: I like that setup. I was looking at it the other day for my '93 as well. Do you know if the Mopar Performance computer will still work for the 408? Thats my only major concern. I have the '92-'93 318 computer.

Message: Got one!!!!! Waiting and ready to go in my '95. It's the second motor I've done with Marty. (I lost a truck in a fire and the 408 rebuilt, it's now on a stand waiting to be brought back to life). It began life as a blower motor but I decided to go all motor this time. Fairly mild setup. KRC 210 cam, 1.7 Rockers, 2.02 R/T Heads, M-1 2-barrel, 55x52mm F&B throttle body, Mopar headers - coated, 3" exhaust all the way back with Carsound cat and Flowmaster, 21lb injectors, Mopar 360 PCM, etc.
I don't trust anyone else when it comes to Magnum motors. I am a very satisfied customer.
On the PCM issue, you'll want to run a Mopar Performance 360 computer with the 408. The 318 computer won't cut it.

Message: You had the blower/nitrous pistons? What is the compression ratio you had on that? Did you get times close to the 11.50 that Marty has on his site?

Message: I've got the Ross pistons, CAT h-beam rods, etc. I wanted the bulletproof bottom ends. Blown, it was 8.2:1. I've got it closer to 9:1 to now going all motor. Again, mild by most standards.
I don't have any times. I've never been down a strip in my life.

Message: That would be a very nice motor, but for 7600 bucks it damn well better be. I would check out Dan the fastmans site, he has done nothing but great work for everyone I have talked to.

Or just get your motor built up?
Also look at all the crate motors there are out there.
