Subject: 4.7 throttle body noise ?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2002 dak with the 4.7 with 12000 miles.
The other day I noticed a high pitch noise coming from underneath the hood.
The noise is some what intermitted and seems mostly to come when the engine is warm.
I took the truck to the dealership and they said that the hose clamp on the throttle body was loose and they tightened it. But the noise is still there. Now they say it is the throttle body itself and they ordered a new throttle body.
Has anybody had this sort of problem ?
Thanks
Mig

I'd use some carb cleaner and spray the outside of the intake assembly where you think the sound is coming from. If it changes the idle speed, you found your leak.

New TB?-that's funny-maybe, just maybe that's it.

I've heard alot about the whining from the
PS pump, alternator, children, girlfriends, etc.

Bottom Line:

#1-take it too a different dealer

#2-does it run abnormal, at all, then I doubt anythings wrong with the TB.

I'll bet you hear that whishing noise for awhile after start-up, then it goes away, right. That's your belt driven clutch/fan, that you should get rid of anyway.-do a search, if interested

Good luck, let us know what it was.
