Is going from the ax15 to the nv3500 tranny a direct swap? I'm planning a v8 swap in the future and would like to back it up with the nv3500 close ratio box if it's a no hassle deal. Thanks in advance.

What year and engine are is your truck. I just found out today that I have a NV3500 in my 1992 3.9L Dakota. Came with it stock. I assumed I have the AX-15 and went to the dealership looking for parts. Turns out I have the NV3500. Just thought this might help.

It's a 93 with the 3.9L. I looked at it once before but didn't know the differences of the two. All the posts that I looked up had me thinking that only the ax15 was used. Since yours has the nv3500, I will definately check it out a little closer tomorrow. Thanks for the help!
