Subject: 4.7 L "cold" idle rough
IP: Logged

Message:
I just purchased a 2002 Dakota with a 4.7 L V8 (Auto). Unfortunately, I bought it when it was about 60 degrees out, so I never got to test it out in the colder weather (about 20 degrees now). After sitting in the cold for a couple of hours or so, the immediate idle after starting is "rough." There are no issues after about 30 seconds of driving.

I have been told that the chips need to "learn" the conditions in which it will be operating so there may be nothing to worry about. Should I be worried?

You need an update to the PCM to correct this. It is fairly common on the 4.7 engine. I have had this too and the flash to the PCM works.
