Subject: Low oil pressure on a 5.2
IP: Logged

Message:
I just got my dakota the other day and well there are a couple of things wrong with it so I will mention them all here.
First of all, when the truck is idling and on any kind of an angle the low oil pressure light flickers on and off, checked and there is plenty of oil in it so does anyone have a suggestion to get my oil pressure up
Second of all there is a humming/whining when I am driving and at I get close to 60 mph the truck develops a shaking in it, any suggestions there also appreciated

The light may be nothing more than the sensor going bad. When was the last time you changed oil, and what oil and filter did you use?

the shaking could be the wheel bearings need to be tighten or your lugnuts might not be tight enough. Jack up the front of your truck or just one of the front tires, once you got the tire off the ground try wiggling , make sure you dont knock the truck off the jack. if you feel anything wobbling its one of those two problems mentioned above.

replace your oil pressure sending unit, its about ten bucks. It is located right behind the intake, beside the distributer. vibration sounds like a u-joint to me,

good luck
