Just bought a 2000 Quad Cab 4.7 in Texas and drove it back to Cali. What a great truck! Drove like a dream across miles and miles of Texas...My first Dakota....So what's the best fix for the 98mph ceiling? A chip? And can the 85 mph cruise control limit be overcome? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Next time you are going 97mph turn your key to 'start' and you can accelerate through the 98mph limiter.

Thanks...I heard about that... Also heard that this can mess with the computer...Anyone had that happen? I'd also like to know if anyone solved this with a chip or module.

Thanks

There may be a flash that will remove the speed limiter. Try doing a search here, or elsewhere on the internet, on B&G, Kenne Bell, Mike Leach. I think they all do flashes for the 4.7.

No, it will not mess with the computer in anyway, also the limiter bypass with turning the key over,it does work but i would NOT recomend it to anyone driving from texas to cali, just imagine holding the key over for a couple 1000 miles that would get old...fast...lol...i would recomend you don't do that bypass,i did it the other day racing this cobra mustang i stayed with him,he couldn't pull away from me,the next day i talked to him and he said he was doing 140mph,imagine doing that speed with 1 hand on the wheel and the other 1 holding the key over while doing 99+ mph and blowing out a tire or two...kinda scarey isn't it...think about that,i did it before like i said, will i do it ever again?NO...never.Don't try this i don't want to hear of this guy on the news hurting himself or someone else by doing this...get a chip.

Hi Blastoff

After installing the Mopar PCM on my 99 R/T all limits were disapeared. I regulary use the cruise control at 100mph on the German Autobahn and it works perfect. Also top speed is not limited anymore.

I thought I read posts somewhere on here that the limit on an R/T was around 115 MPH?

What is the limit on a 2002 R/T?

how can you get rid of a drag limited speed limiter? I have a 91 318 a500 auto and top out at 98 though i have hit 100 down a slight hill. I dont think the key thing will work with mine because i have a cable driven spedo instead of the electrinic one. My tach also does not move if i turn the key forward. WHats my options???
Thanks

Superchip just recently (finally!) came out with a device that will allow you to raise the rev-limiter, correct speedometer for tire-size changes, adjust timing & air/fuel mixture... all for a ton $$$ less than any of the guys that are zapping these chips.

91, if you're truck is only hitting 100 due to drag limits, you need more power! I have no idea on the electronics back then, but the only thing keeping me from breaking 115 is a circuit. I can easily get to 115 in my modded 4.7L 5spd, even hit 115 in 4th! Its pretty easy to tell if its drag governed or computer governed, when my governer comes on its like someone hit the ebrake for a full second. Seat belt will lock up. Not smart but fun.

Bill,

I did a search on the web for the 'spuerdhip',

the non turbo application chart off their website doesn't EVEN HAVE Dodge listed! It goes from Daewoo to Fiat!

Do you know that this will work, for a 2001 + 4.7, 5spd?

for all you looking for changes to your computers to get rid of your speed limiters and increase your rev. limiter/ increase you air/fuel ratio I personally have a family member who has worked for dodge for many years and has the programing equipment to do so and do it right for a price. It can be done. No chips or modules just reprograming your very own ecu. I've seen some of the 4.7L trucks that have become beasts. Faster than any R/T or Lightning that you can think of. I have a lot of inside info that I'm willing to share. Especially with fellow 4.7 owners. For more info just reply.

for all of you who were inquiring about this sorry it took so long. I'm looking into prices for this. The person that does this is in the family and works for dodge but this can only work for certain models ending at a certain vin # I don't remember it off the top of my head but for those of you who wish to know I will e-mail you when I find out some prices. If you wish to e-mail me go ahead and do so for any questions. I know quite a bit about the 4.7 and for the man who said that pulled the B.S. flag on the 4.7 beating the lightning. Put a SC on a 4.7 and int/exhaust and you'll be handing there a$$ to em. The fact of the matter is is that I've probably seen one of the fatsest 4.7s out there and all I have to say is Lightning who?

speeddemon- what's your e-mail addy so that I can e-mail you with a few questions? Thanks! This sounds like it ought to be pretty awesome if it's compatible with my truck. I really want to do something other than the Kenne Bell flash. I'm working on getting a drive shaft loop...no I'm not that fast, but b/w 100-108mph (according to my GPS) there's a really bad vibration on the autos. That must be why the 2wd auto 4.7's are limited to 97 from the factory. I want the loop so that I can be sure I don't lose that shaft in the middle of the road.

Nope, what are you talking about? Who mentioned their R/T. What makes you think I couldn't afford one? I'm not going to get childish here and start talking about material things, net worth, etc.

Where has I crying b/c anyone mentioned his R/T? Their nice trucks. I ordered mine the way I wanted it, manual tranny, 4.7, Quad cab, etc.

uh, no, I don't think. As I said, I ordered what I wanted, no complaints.

If I was still single, or married w/o children, I still would have gone for the 4.7 in 2001, cause it has a 5speed manual. I porbably still would have gone for the Quad cab also, cause i can carry more people, chicks, cargo, etc.

To each his own, sorry, but I'm real happy with mine.

Judged by your sign-on name, a guess you have recently acquired an r/t, hope you like it.

You know, it all got brought up cause speeddemon says his supposed PCM flash for a 4.7, will then beat any R/t, or Lightning. The r/t is certianly in the same speed class, but a lightning? Now he says it would have to be s/c'd? OH, OK.

Speeddemon, I just need $1,000, so some arab's wife can get the money she hid in a swiss bank, it'll pay 10 to 1. Really, 10G's for only 1. E-mail me at: imaidjut@Bleevthis.com

Before the whole 5.9 vs 4.7 thing gets started again, it's just easier, you have an r/t, fine, noone could ever touch that, you win. There, cause there's no sour grapes on my end.

He said that he designed the one for the 2000 and Mopar now is selling that. sorry for the bad news. They are designing a program for later models know but it wouln't be available for awhile.
