Message: 2001 5.9 35000 miles
ok....today i finally got the motivation too change my plugs...wow alot harder than my straight 6 jeep....but i need too know two things
1. the first plug on left side (facing engine)nearest firewall the threads on the plug had a tiny bit of oil wetness on them...what is up with this????the other seven were fine.
2.the second plug from front on same side wouldnt tighten down as snugly/completely as the other seven..i didnt power it on incase of it hurting the threads...what is wrong here????i dont really think its cross threaded ...but i could always pull it back out and see????if so what do i do????
thanks

Message: 91 5.2 ase mt. did you use anti sieze on the threads..could you screw them out by hand on an extension...the one with oil could be valve cover seeping..is there oil any where else?? you can also get a tap you rethread the hole insideout..snapontools.matco..very simple and keeps the debree out of the combustion chamber wich is not real good for a cylinder. oil on the plug could also from if someone checked or added trans fluid good chance for a drip of fluid.and if your at 35000 its a real good time to change all the fluids in the truck

Message: i am not sure what tolerances spark plug man. have on they're threads, but i worked in the machineing world for a while, and the one that didn't tighten right could always be a plug with sloppy threads,(same theory applies to the head as well) pull it out and replace it with a new one from a different pack, see if that helps....just a thought.

Message: thats the cam sensor to put it loosely. its actullay a switch plate with a singal generator underneath. on the distributor shaft itself theres a pulse ring. as the pulse ring passes throught the signal generator, a small electrical current is produced this small amount of current tells the ecm when to fire the ignition coil. the firing of the coil is also reliant on other sensors as well but for the most part thats what it does.

Message: Did the "plug that tightened down wierd" have two crush washers on there by mistake. Or did the old washer get stuck on the head, by not coming of w/the old plug..?
