Subject: I need some educating... IP: Logged
Message: I just test drove a 2001 Dakota Quad Cab that I'd swear was labeled as having a 5.7L engine. However, I though the V8 options were the 318 or the 360. Is this correct? What could I have seen on the inside of the engine hood? Is there anyway I can look and be absolutely sure it was a 360, other than the fact that the truck got down the road really well?!
Thanks,
Kris

Message: The v 8 options for 2001 are 4.7 which equals 287 cid and 5.9 which equals 360. The 318 was discontinued in 2000. The 4.7 is an ohc and has aluminum cylinder heads. The 360 is a pushrod

Message: Then, it must be the 5.9L engine.
Thanks,
