Subject: 91 dakota engine swap IP: Logged
Message: I want to put a crate engine in my 91 dakota and I need some advice. I plan to put in the 380 horse mopar crate engine in my 91 dakota and I was wondering what type of headers I should go with. Mopar recomends a 1 7/8" header for the engine, do you know where I can get some? I would like to use holley tbi to fuel it, good Idea or bad idea? Has anyone else done this? Any advice appreciated.

Message: I want to thank you guys for the information on the headers. As far as the engine mount problem, I don't know what the difference is. engine-swaps.com may have something that could help.

Message: I believe the part number for the headers is P5249532. I ordered the headers from KRC performance, and they treated me real well, I would recommend dealing with them. I havent got any pictures of the headers installed yet because I havent got the engine in yet. Right now I am waiting on some information on a transmission for my 91d dak. I thought that I had a 518 automatic, but it turns out that I have a 500a, and it won't take the power. So I am either going to buy a 518 or a 618 to put in it. A local trans shop that I trust said that it would bolt right in. As soon as I complete the project I can send you some pictures if you want. I did set my engin in a couple of times to see how things were going to line up, and at that time I tried the upper part of the headers and they seemed to fit real good. So far it looks like these doug thorely headers are going to be good.

Message: they are a multy piece header. there are full length uppers with a three piece lower y-pipe. Every part of the headers is coated in a high nickle content chrome. The protective layer is not for show though. The nickle/chrome coating is made to bake on and protect the headers.
