Ok, I know it's not the dak but it's got the same tranny.

The problem is everytime I turn left (in 4 or 2 wheel) the tranny slips and the rpms slow to about idel, then it kicks in again. It only does it trunning left. I've tried dropping it into 2nd and it still does the same thing. Has anybody had this problem?

Any input will save about 600 bucks, so thanks now.

I work at Jeep. When you say Jeep, is it a TJ, Cherokee, Liberty ,??? Let me know because they all use different trannys. I'll ask some off my mechanic friends tomorrow morning and let you know.

Rick,

It's a Cherokee. It was in about 6 months ago for a similar problem: The only difference is that it would shut the engine down while driving straight, the dealer replaced the sensors inside the tranny.

I asked three of the most experienced mechanics at work and was flooded with questions that I didn't have answers to. Which Cherokee, Toledo built (XJ) or Detroit built (Grand). Which engine? If it's the Grand Cherokee, they have never worked on them here in the Toledo plant and they use a different tranny than the XJ did. The XJ biggest factory engine was the v-six and then they went to the inline six. Sorry, Rick

Just a thought.....my 1998 jeep gr cherokee 5.9 lmt. does the same when the fuel tank is less than half full. My fix was the walbro replacement fuel pump module for the 1998{old body} and 1999-up {new body} gr cherokee. If your trans was slipping the rpm's would shoot up not drop down to idle. Sounds like a fuel problem to me. BTW i also replaced the tank to make sure it wasn't a loose or bent baffle.

Ssclone,

It only does it turning to the left. I spent about 20 minutes driving around a few blocks to make sure it wouldnt do it turning right, and sure enough it would only do it turning left. Is that the same problem you had? Oh, yah the fuel was down to about an 8th.

Thanks for the help,

I'm glad i could help you out..if you could post your fix i'd love to know if it was the pump or the tank since i replaced both of them at the same time. I know my pump was shot but i kept the tank just in case.
