Message: The dealer today told me that the Chrysler engineers have no clue to what could be causing a loud whistle noise that happens at 1600, 1800, and 2100. This happens mainly when it's real cold out (10 degrees and below). The dealer has replaced the fan clutch, removed all belts, replaced the ais motor on the back of the throttle body and today they installed the new throttle body that they ordered and that didn't do anything either. They today told me that I may have to live with the problem. Any help????

Message: Does it adversely effect performance? If they continue to try and fix it and don't, it's a lemon. They have to buy it back from you. They are legally obligated to fix it, though, so let them have a few chances. Also, take it to another dealer.

Message: No CW...if it adversely effects performance and they won't fix it, then yes. That's what I was trying to say (poorly, I might add).

Message: As I've mentioned before, my 4.7L has been doing this when the tach's between 1500 and 2k, but only when the engine is not under load. If you let off the gas pedal the sounds drops off immediately, and if you step on the pedal it will increase somewhat before disappearing.
I am starting to suspect it might be either tranny or power steering.
I have noticed more often now that it is so cold, but this has occurred almost every day I've had this truck (since early November).
I'm going to start with replacing the engine and tranny fluids with synthetics to see if this helps.
BTW - I'm running an '02 QC 4x4 with the 4.7l auto

Message: It's funny how they'll just start replacing things and hope they get the right one! We don't do that in surgery!

Message: I E-mailed the Dodge complaint dept. yesterday after 5:00pm and told them the dealer said I may have to live with the whistle noise because the new throttle body didn't solve anything. The dealer told me I shouldn't expect them to take apart the whole engine just to find what's wrong. Dodge e-mailed me back at 7:00pm to let me know they contacted the dealer. Today when I stopped after work, they just finished putting the intake back on. They found a bad gasket and want to test it in the morning when it's cold. Hope that's it!!!!

Message: There was no performance problems with the motor. It runs strong. The only problem with the truck is the tranny. The converter locks up immediately in 3rd and 4th and I'm told to be patient, there will hopefully be a "flash" for the pcm because all the R/T's, Durango's, and B series vans are doing it. I guess it's the 5.2 and 5.9 engines with the 4 speed auto. Waiting for the flash made me mad, not getting the whistle fixed, too, would put things over the edge.

Message: I didn't find that out but if your truck isn't doing it now, then your t.c.m is working fine. I work at Jeep and a friend of mine made contacts with an engineer and found out that Warren has no fix yet and they are still pumping the vehicles off the assembly line. Whats up with that?????

Message: It costs more to stop production and fix the problem than it does to keep it going and fix it later. Fukkin stupid way of doing it, if you ask me...

Message: I picked my truck up for the weekend. The dealer asked me to bring it home and drive it to see if there was any change. I woke up this morning and took it for a test drive and "IT'S" still there. I'm going to Radio Shack today to buy 3 microphones, one for inside the air cleaner, one for down behind the throttle body, and one for inside the truck. I want this on tape while the cold weather is still here. Anybody want to buy a truck ???????
