Subject: anything wrong w/a '92? IP: Logged
Message: I'm thinking about buying a '92 Dakota, 2wd, 5.2, automatic, 174,000 miles. Don't know much about Dodge, any red flags to watch out for? Thanks alot.

Message: Nothing really. Check the basics. Make sure the engine runs smoothly, the tranny is in good shape, and the suspension will not kill you as you drive it home.
My 92 has 140k and has not had any real problems. I've replaced a water pump, starter (not needed... It ended up being the battery.), the battery, and the radiator. For being assembled in December '91, I consider this to be a good record.

Message: I heard that the 92 dakota w/a 5.2 multi port has a slightly hotter cam in it so it puts out a little more pony power, then they realized that a V8 dakota is already enough w/a colder cam and because of gov't regulations I suppose too.... oh well what can ya do... just wish you had the better cam I guess.
