Subject: 96 Dakota 5.2 issues IP: Logged
Message: I'm a new proud owner of a 96 Dak with a 5.2 Engine. Needless to say, as with children, my Dak has a pair of issues which may not be critical, but, would like to get some help/advice in figuring out if anything can be done, before going to the local Dodge dealer and getting reamed. The first issue, has to do when starting the truck; as I get ready to turn the key, once I get to the "ACC" position on the ignition switch, the OIL icon lights up, even though it does not require oil (level is O.K.). Is this O.K.? Second, I went ahead and installed some 8.5 MSD wires over the weekend, and, though unrelated, I started to notice that the blower fan seems to come on automatically. The fan would only turn on when the lever was located in one of the fan speed positions. What is going on? Anybody who can provide some tips...deeply appreciated.

Your blower turns off? I'm jealous! Mine only turns off when the AC/Heat knob is set to 'off', the lowest setting on the fan-speed knob is just that, lowest fan speed for me.

Message: blower motor not working in all speeds is probably a problem with the heater resistor block .it is located on the passenger side on the fire wall of the engine bay. removethe2 8 mm bolts and check the wire resistors( they will probably be broken) just get one from the dealer 10 bucks that should fix it

Message: Just had my 95 Dakota with oil pressure collapse and oil light on problem fixed. It turned out to be a clogged screen at the bottom of the oil intake. Replaced screen and got new oil pump to boot. I need to change the oil more like every two thousand miles because it sits sometimes when I have no projects (winter...).
Good luck!
